OVERLAND - ANCIENT CAPITALS OF CHINA - 2025 CODE: INCL01
On this whirlwind adventure, travel from Incheon, South Korea to Beijing, China and then Xi’an, China to explore the spectacular icons in two of China’s greatest cities, including the Terracotta Warriors Museum, the Temple of Heaven, the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square before returning to the ship in Shanghai.
Observação especial: Any guests travelling with Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines should read further below for airline stipulations with regards to bringing this equipment on tour. This program involves a lot of walking and some steps throughout and as such is not recommended for guests with mobility restrictions
Please see further below for important Visa information.
Day 1 - 11 mar 2025
Disembark the ship in Incheon, South Korea and transfer to the airport for an international flight to Beijing, China.
Upon arrival at Beijing International Airport, you will meet your National guide in the arrivals hall after going through customs, immigration and luggage claim. Transfer to your hotel for check in. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. O jantar será por sua conta. Nota: the flight from Incheon to Beijing is not accompanied.
Day 2 - 12 mar 2025
After breakfast at the hotel, transfer to visit the impressive Tian’anmen Square, the largest public square in the world and site of many important events in Chinese history.
Next, continue to visit the Forbidden City, home to the emperors in the Ming and Qing dynasties and a 250-acre complex of pavilions, halls, courtyards and gates showcasing some of the most important treasures of China’s imperial past.
Later, take a scenic drive to the Great Wall at Juyongguan Pass – one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Enjoy a traditional Chinese-style lunch at a local restaurant en-route. You will have a chance to explore the amazing Great Wall, actually a series of walls first constructed over 2000 years ago in an attempt to ward off northern nomads. Walk on the wall and enjoy the surrounding views before heading back to your hotel.
NOTA: you will need to climb a series of steps to access the Great Wall.
Enjoy the remainder of the day at your leisure. O jantar será por sua conta.
Day 3 - 13 mar 2025
Following breakfast, drive to the Temple of Heaven for a visit.
Initially built in 1420, this World Heritage site is where emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties worshipped heaven and prayed for a bumper harvest. The main structure in the vast compound is the Hall of Prayer for Good Harvests, a magnificent triple-gabled circular building. Completely wooden, without any nails, it is one of the architectural wonders of ancient China. The Temple of Heaven is also a public park where local people begin their day with such morning activities as playing Tai Chi, singing Peking Opera or writing Chinese calligraphy.
After this visit, transfer to the airport for a flight to Xi’an where upon arrival you will be taken for a visit to Xi’an’s landmark city wall, the most complete city wall surviving in China. The first emperor of the Ming Dynasty created it by enlarging an existing one constructed during the Tang Dynasty. Stretching around the entire old city, the 8.5-mile-long wall boasts 98 ramparts, stands 40 feet tall, and is 60 feet thick at its base.
Following the city wall visit, transfer to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure and dinner is on your own.
Day 4 – 14 mar 2025
Following breakfast at the hotel, sit back and enjoy the picturesque drive to the Terracotta Warriors Museum, a repository for thousands of clay soldiers that were buried with China’s first emperor to accompany him in his eternal rest. Considered one of the world’s greatest archaeological treasures, the 7.000 life-size terracotta warriors and horses were buried for centuries until excavated in 1974.
Os guerreiros estão dispostos em formação de batalha, posto por posto, alguns montados em charretes puxadas por cavalos, outros em grupos de infantaria armados com lanças, espadas e bestas. Cada personagem foi criado individualmente com características únicas.
As a highlight, one of the Museum's archaeologists or researchers will accompany you throughout the visit, giving you in-depth introductions, and answering your questions about the Warriors.
Following your visit, transfer to the Xi’an Airport for a flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival you will be met and taken to the pier where you will rejoin the ship. Nota: This flight will be accompanied with your National guide.
