Description

Circle the evergreen island of Jersey by panoramic coach and visit an elaborate range of botanic gardens growing at Samarès Manor. You’ll head west from the pier on a delight-filled journey around that brings you past abundant attractions of both the natural and man-made variety. During your tour, you’ll see bizarre cliffs and gem-like hills, Victorian courtyards, Tudor-style manors and Norman-style farmhouses, narrow winding lanes though peaceful parishes and especially dramatic settings like broad, sandy St. Aubin’s Bay on the south coast and Gorey village along the eastern shore, dominated by Mont Orgueil Castle atop its granite knoll. And, almost everywhere, flourishing gardens thanks to the Channel Islands’ balmy Gulf Stream climate. But few Jersey gardens hold a candle to those that wait at Samarès Manor, where you’ll have some time to wander at will through rambling theme plantings of every color, including a bee garden, a succulent collection, heritage apples and pears, and garden rose and what some say are the UK’s most imaginative herb garden. Topping off this circular island journey are views of St. Clement’s Bay, where ancient stone watchtowers guard your passage back to St. Helier and the port.

Disclaimer:

This tour includes approximately 60 minutes of moderate walking and standing. The tour is available to wheelchair guests who have a collapsible chair, are able to make their own way on and off the coach and have a companion to assist them. The gardens of Samarès Manor can be visited by wheelchair through ramps, although uneven ground is involved. Those with mobility concerns are cautioned to evaluate their personal level of ability before participating.
