Land Programs & Hotels

  • Discover Buenos Aires through authentic local experiences such as attending a traditional tango performance, exploring distinctive neighborhoods, and enjoying an Argentine asado featuring grilled meats at a country ranch.

    DAY 1

After flying to Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires, you will proceed through Customs and claim your luggage. You will then be met and transferred to your hotel.

Check-in is 3:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have rooms available earlier, this cannot be guaranteed. If you are arriving early, you may wish to book an extra night to guarantee immediate check-in.

The remainder of the day will be at your leisure, and lunch and dinner will be on your own.

    DAY 2

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will spend the day at a traditional estancia ranch in the countryside, a beautiful land that is home to the gaucho. The owners will be your hosts, and during your stay they will regale you with stories about the differences between modern country life and country life years ago.

Lunch will be a hearty asado of grilled meats with empanadas, accompanied by excellent Argentinian wines.

The entertainment will be just as outstanding. You will enjoy folk songs and dances, equestrian activities and an extraordinary demonstration of traditional gaucho skills, such as ring races and horse races and games.

Following your time at the estancia, you will return to the hotel to spend the evening. Dinner will be on your own.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will begin a half-day sightseeing tour of Buenos Aires, starting in the neighborhood La Boca, where you will view El Caminito, a street that is an open-air museum of sorts full of brightly colored buildings. Some claim the tango originated here around 1870, and tango dancers are often seen performing impromptu in the streets.

Continuing, you will pass the city hall and Metropolitan Cathedral, which is adorned with frescoes and elaborate artwork. You will also see Casa Rosado, the executive mansion. President Juan Peron and his wife Eva, more affectionately known as Evita, delivered numerous speeches from the balcony.

Then, it’s on to the affluent La Recoleta neighborhood and the Recoleta Cemetery, the final resting place for Argentina’s wealthy and powerful. It holds thousands of grandiose mausoleums containing the remains of generals, sports figures and most famously Evita.

A snack at Café Tortoni follows. This historic cafe has served as the artistic and intellectual capital of Buenos Aires since 1858, hosting notable guests such as Argentine author Jorge Luis Borges. Founded in 1858, the café is the oldest coffee shop in the country.

After touring the city, you will return to your hotel for lunch on own.

Your evening will be spent watching an authentic tango performance over dinner. Although the exact origin of the tango is unclear, there is no denying that the sultry dance is mesmerizing. The rhythmic music and mournful lyrics are just as alluring, as they often tell a story of lust, betrayal and loneliness. You don’t have to speak the language to feel the passion of tango.

After the tango performance, you will return to the hotel for the evening.

    DAY 4

After breakfast and check out, transfer to the ship for embarkation.

    DAY 1

Arrive at Ezeiza International Airport in Buenos Aires. You will be greeted by our local ground team near the luggage claim area and transferred to your hotel for the night.

The day and evening are at your leisure with any meals on your own.

Check-in time at the hotel is 3:00pm. Although every effort will be made to have the rooms available earlier, this cannot be guaranteed. If you are arriving early you may wish to book an extra night to guarantee immediate check-in.

    DAY 2

After breakfast, transfer to the domestic airport for a flight to El Calafate. Any excess luggage will be kept at the hotel in Buenos Aires and transferred to the ship. Please pack accordingly and don’t forget you valuables, medications and documents.

When your flight lands in El Calafate, you will transfer to the 4-star Xelena Hotel. Located in the southwestern tip of the Argentine Patagonia, this town is known for its easy access to Los Glaciares National Park, home of the spectacular Perito Moreno glacier and hundreds of others.

After some time to settle in and have lunch on your own, set off on a true 4×4 expedition with a skilled driver where you will access the most remote places of Patagonia. Leaving from El Calafate drive to the south and reach panoramic points from which you will contemplate the immensity of the landscape. In view are the Verlika and Baguales hills that mark the southern limit with Chile.

Fossilized oyster reefs, unexplored chenques (Tehuelches burial sites), various native flora and fauna are some of the natural riches that you will see along the way.

Finally, arrive at Estancia 25 de Mayo – an authentic Patagonian house located 800 meters above sea level. Here, enjoy dinner before returning to the Xelena Hotel for the evening.

    DAY 3

Following breakfast at the hotel, you will transfer to Los Glaciares National Park, an expansive protected area covered by an ice mantle. After reaching the Patagonic Andean forest, pause for photos at the Curve of Sighs, a lookout where you will have the first view of the Perito Moreno Glacier rising majestically above the landscape.

Next proceed to the "Bajo de las Sombras" port located 7km from the glacier catwalks. Once there, board a large catamaran style boat to navigate the Lago Rico where you will be able to appreciate the amazing walls of the Perito Moreno Glacier, its icebergs and its continuous and thunderous collapses over the Lago Rico. One stop is made approximately 300 meters (984 feet) from the southern wall of the glacier to take a closer look at the landscape.

Return to the National Park for lunch at one of its restaurants. After lunch approach the glacier by walking down catwalks that will present several other panoramic viewpoints of this wonderful creation of Mother Nature. Chances are, you will see and hear large chunks of ice calving from the glacier and thundering into the water of Lago Argentino. It will be an experience that you will not soon forget.

After this day, which is sure to amaze, all guests will return to the hotel, where dinner will be served.

    DAY 4

After breakfast at the hotel, check out and drive to the airport for a flight back to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival, you will transfer to the pier for embarkation. Time permitting, enjoy a panoramic tour en route to the port.

  • Experience the vibrant heart of Argentina on this post-cruise program. Immerse yourself in the city's rich culinary traditions, savoring authentic local cuisine at renowned parrillas and tasting wines in the tranquil countryside. Enjoy the cultural tapestry of Buenos Aires with guided tours, a captivating tango performance, and leisure time to explore at your own pace. This thoughtfully curated itinerary promises a memorable blend of flavors, rhythms, and unforgettable moments. Let Buenos Aires enchant you at every turn.

Note: This program involves walking between restaurants on Day 1 and at the winery on Day 2 and may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility. If you have special dietary requirements, please inform us during your reservation so all vendors can consider your needs. After the program begins, meal arrangements may not be changed.

    DAY 1

Today, prepare for a feast as you will experience an array of traditional Argentine grilled cuisine during a progressive meal at three distinct parrillas, concluding with dessert at a local ice cream shop.

After disembarking the ship in Buenos Aires, meet your guide and begin with a panoramic sightseeing tour through central Buenos Aires.

Approaching midday, you will arrive at the first parrilla—an Argentine establishment renowned for its specialties cooked over hot-coal grills. These venues are esteemed dining locations among both local porteños and visitors.

Unlike the widely publicized restaurants found in travel guides or online, locals frequent more authentic parrillas situated off the beaten path; these carefully selected venues will be the focus of your culinary experience.

The menu selections will vary based on the specific parrillas visited, the availability of seasonal ingredients, and the chefs’ creativity in presenting unique dishes.

A visit to a parrilla is more than just a meal—it is an immersion into Argentina’s culinary heritage, an exploration of flavors shaped by tradition, fire, and hospitality.

Anticipate enjoying a starter at the first location, an entrée at the second, and the main course at the third establishment.

Courses may feature grass-fed Argentine beef, seasoned sausages, and fresh vegetables, expertly prepared over the grill. A selection of local Argentine wines will be available to accompany your meal.

To conclude, your final stop will be at an artisanal heladeria (ice cream shop), where you may sample flavors made with regional ingredients such as dulce de leche or sabayón. Following dessert, you will be transferred to your hotel to check in. The remainder of the day is at your leisure.

Dinner will be on your own.

    DAY 2

After breakfast at the hotel, meet your guide. Just 56 kilometers north of Buenos Aires, surrounded by peaceful countryside and open skies, lies Gamboa Winery, a boutique vineyard that invites visitors to enjoy a unique and relaxing day outside the city.

After a scenic 90-minute drive, guests are welcomed with a refreshing glass of sparkling wine upon arrival. A local guide will lead a stroll through the five hectares of vineyards, sharing stories about the estate’s origins and the distinctive characteristics of the terroir, while two selected wines are tasted along the way.

The walk concludes at the winery itself, where you’ll learn about their winemaking philosophy and production methods, followed by the tasting of a third wine. The experience culminates with a delightful three-course lunch on a veranda overlooking the vineyard. After your penguin encounter, continue by coach to Bahía Bustamante Lodge. The journey takes approximately 2.5 hours. Upon arrival, settle in and review the excursion options for the days ahead. Dinner is included.

Bahía Bustamante is a small, family-run eco-lodge and private wildlife sanctuary set on the remote Patagonian coast. Described by The New York Times as “Argentina’s private answer to the Galápagos,” it lies within Patagonia Austral National Park and the UNESCO Patagonia Azul Biosphere Reserve, an area recognized for its importance to bird conservation. Founded in the 1950s as a seaweed settlement, Bahía Bustamante was once home to more than 400 workers and their families, complete with a church, school, police station, and the essentials of a small community.

The lodge is dedicated to protecting this remarkable environment and sharing it responsibly with guests, helping promote conservation and awareness of this fragile ecosystem. This program offers an authentic Patagonian experience surrounded by extraordinary marine and land wildlife, including penguins, sea lions, seabirds, guanacos, and rheas.

The lodge embraces simplicity in harmony with nature. The original settlers’ homes have been carefully restored for guest use, preserving their modest character and the spirit of those who first lived here more than 60 years ago.

The lodge’s common areas reflect a traditional Patagonian atmosphere. The restaurant serves regional cuisine featuring seaweed, lamb, fish, seafood, and produce from the garden, subject to seasonal availability. Guests can also enjoy a bar and lounge with sweeping sea views, a library stocked with books and bird guides, a historical room displaying memorabilia from the property, and a games room with a pool table, table tennis, and board games.

Bahía Bustamante Lodge offers a wide range of activities, and the schedule is shaped by nature. Each evening, the following day’s options are announced based on weather and tide conditions. Activities take place within the property, and each guest may choose individually from the available options.

Below is a sample of the excursions that may be offered. Activities, timings, and availability are subject to weather, tides, and the lodge management’s discretion. One activity per guest, per day, is included. Additional activities may be available for an extra charge, time permitting.

BOAT TRIP (3 to 4 hours approx.)

Close encounters with sea lions and seabird colonies. Navigation along a quiet cove towards the Vernacci Islands,

which are home to sea lions (4000 animals during breeding season), Magellan Penguins (100,000 – season: October to March) and colorful marine bird colonies. Boat trip is done during high tide hours and with the right weather conditions.

    THE PENINSULA (4 hours approx.)

Visit a peninsula with sandy beaches, crystal clear water and reddish rocks. Perfect for biking, trekking, or touring in 4×4 trucks, not only to wonderful beaches, but also to sites of great archeological and geological importance.

Several natural swimming pools are formed in between the rocks, and these are great fun for swimming with a view to the open ocean. The peninsula is a world of wonders to enjoy.

    PETRIFIED FOREST (4/5 hours approx.)

A 4×4 ride combined with a moderate trekking to the Petrified Forest, located 18 miles away from the Lodge within the limits of their land. The Petrified Forest is a journey to the past. During the visit, you will be able to observe all kinds of steppe wildlife too (lesser rheas, guanacos, maras, and more).

armadillos and more. Once you reach the Aristizabal Lighthouse, take a short trek to watch the sea lions, which usually rest in different spots around the Cape.

ROCK CANYON (4 to 5 hours approx.)

A beautiful trek through the canyon, following the path of a dry river until you reach the ocean. Walk

alongside immense walls 15 meters/49 feet tall, formed by Jurassic rocks from the Mesozoic era. Some amazing tide pools are great fun for swimming and photo opportunities. You will also visit a native archeological site. The canyon is protected from windy conditions, which makes it ideal for bird watching.

HISTORIC TOUR AND INTRODUCTION TO THE SEAWEED INDUSTRY (1 to 2 hours approx.)

Walk around the Lodge to learn about its history, its founder, inhabitants, the buildings, everything! Also visit the barns where the seaweed is processed and learn about the different species found in Bahia Bustamante, its uses and more.

area for marine coastal birds and gives you the chance to observe unique specimens that are hard to find on other

excursions. You will also discover a large alga and invertebrate diversity on our path. It is an ideal experience for

    Luggage information

On the domestic flights from Trelew to Calafate and Calafate to Ushuaia guests are permitted to bring one piece of checked luggage (maximum 23 kg / 50 lbs.) and one small carry on that can fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.

Carriage of Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POC) or CPAP breathing machines on internal flights per airline regulations (subject to change as each airline has their own regulations)

1.Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) - Guests must obtain a Doctor’s Certificate mentioning their medical condition and the need to carry a POC. Further paperwork may be required by the airline.

2.CPAP Machine NOT being used in flight – please advise RSSC at least 95 days before your cruise if you will bring a CPAP on the internal flight(s) used in this land program. Please supply the make, model and battery type.

3.CPAP Machine to be used during flight – same as above + a doctor’s note is required mentioning the need to use the machine during flight.

*Guests are required to bring with them any details from the manufacturer regarding the CPAP specifications. While most modern CPAP machines are FAA-approved for in-flight use, having a copy of your manufacturer’s FAA-approval status will help to quickly clear any confusion that may arise.

    * Failure to provide the above details in a timely manner may result in a denial of this equipment at the airport for which Regent Seven Seas Cruises nor our local ground operator will be responsible for.

*Some hotels do not provide distilled water. While we can certainly request this for you, we cannot guarantee that it will be available. If received in a timely manner, at least 95 days before sailing, requests will be sent on the final manifest that our ground operators and hotels receive. We highly recommend packing your own supply, especially on programs that travel to more remote locations in order to avoid not having it. Please keep in mind the rule for liquids in carry-on bags. Many hotels will charge for distilled water. If there is a fee, this will be added to your hotel incidental account to be paid at check-out. Fees will vary from hotel to hotel.
