63 LEOPOLD CAFE Mumbai is hot, and we had spent the day on our feet so we headed into the Leopold Cafe for a quick drink and rest before continuing our explorations. The cafe had a great atmosphere. MANI BHAVAN GANDHI MUSEUM We really recommend visiting this museum. We learnt so much about Gandhi during our visit. Our favorite part was the models made to represent important events in Gandhi’s life. Each model is accompanied by some information. Gandhi’s important role in South African history is represented here. The stairway is also lined with photos taken throughout Gandhi’s life. Many of them were actually taken in South Africa. HANGING GARDENS The Hanging Gardens were a peaceful spot during our busy day. We enjoyed admiring the bushes that were shaped into animals and wandering around the gardens. Apparently the garden is built over an underwater reservoir. HAJI ALI DARGAH Our next stop was a short one. We admired Haji Ali Dargah from a distance. This mosque is located 500 meters into the sea and can be accessed during low tide. USING YOUR SENSES There are also so many smells from incense burning outside shops or near trees to fragrant spice-filled food being made. We are two girls who love bread. There are so many di‹erent types in India from roti, to paratha to naan and we recommend you try them all with di‹erent curries. Our short time in Mumbai was a sensory overload. One day in Mumbai was enough for just a taste of what this city has to o‹er. Jodilee and Michelle are two South African ladies who love to travel and explore new places.
