  • PRE - SUNRISE OVER TOKYO - 2021 CODE: TOKL32

From your base in Tokyo, you will visit some of the most impressive sights of Japan, including both ancient temples and modern wonders. Tour the 7th-century Sensoji Temple in Asakusa and visit the Tokyo Tower, a communications and observation tower and the second tallest structure in Japan. Discover Tokyo’s fascinating Shogun history or Japan’s rich tradition of art at superb museums, and during your leisure time, perhaps take in the high-energy atmosphere of Ginza, Tokyo’s premier shopping and entertainment district.

    DIA 1

Upon arrival at either the Narita or Haneda International Airports in Tokyo, you will be met at the exit of the Custom’s area. Transfer to the Hilton Tokyo (or similar hotel) where the remainder of the day is at your leisure. Meals are on your own.

Please note that check in time at the hotel is at 4:00pm.

Although every effort will be made to have the rooms available before this time, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you have a very early morning arrival you may wish to book an extra night so that your room is available when you arrive.

NOTA: In general, hotel rooms in Japan are smaller than hotel rooms elsewhere around the world. Per Japanese culture, standard typical bedding is two twin beds. Although every effort will be made to obtain rooms with one bed for couples, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you require two beds, kindly make sure to advise this when booking your program.

    DIA 2

Desfrute o café da manhã no hotel. The morning is at your leisure and lunch is on your own.

In the afternoon, you will be met by your guide in the lobby of the hotel before heading out on a half tour of the city.

Your first visit will be the Edo Tokyo Museum. This is one of Tokyo’s premier museums, charting the rise of Tokyo from a small fishing village called Edo through to the thriving metropolis that you see today. Housed in a space-age building, exhibits include a wide range of historical artifacts, including collections of ukiyoe woodblock prints, kimonos and scale models of towns and buildings from the Edo, Meiji and Showa periods.

After the visit to the museum, you will visit Tokyo Tower which is 333 meters high and a symbol of Tokyo since 1958. If the sky is clear, you should be able to see Mt. Fuji from the main observatory.

Return to your hotel where the evening is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

Nota: the tour may be done in reverse order to avoid crowding at sites

    DIA 3

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and then embark on another half day tour of Tokyo allowing you to see the city from a different perspective than the day prior.

You will first visit the Asakusa Senso-ji Temple, which was founded in the early 7th century. You will enter through a gate decorated with a huge red paper lantern, weather permitting.

The architecture is stunning, as this temple is the country’s oldest and one of the most revered. One of the highlights is Nakamise-dori, known as the “Street of Inside Shops,” an alley lined with vendors selling traditional food, souvenirs and handmade crafts.

After visiting the museum your tour will continue with a visit to the Imperial Palace Plaza (no interior visit). Japan’s emperor and empress reside at the Palace. Surrounded by a moat, the palace was formerly known as Edo Castle, and samurai warriors lived there in the 17th through 19th centuries. In the large plaza in front of the palace, you can view the famed Nijubashi—two bridges that form an entrance to the inner palace grounds. The stone bridge in front is called Meganebashi (Eyeglass Bridge) for its looks.

Return to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at your leisure and dinner is on your own.

Nota: the tour may be done in reverse order to avoid crowding at sites

    DIA 4

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before checking out and transferring to the port for embarkation.

  • PRE - TOKYO AND HAKONE - 2021 CODE: TOKL31

Explore historical and modern landmarks in Tokyo and then travel south to Hakone for a lake cruise in the shadow of Mt. Fuji and an enlightening visit to a meticulously reconstructed 15th-Century castle.

    DIA 1

Upon arrival at either the Narita or Haneda International Airports in Tokyo, you will be met at the exit of the Custom’s area. Transfer to the Hilton Tokyo (or similar hotel) where the remainder of the day is at your leisure. Meals are on your own.

Although every effort will be made to obtain rooms with one bed for couples, this cannot be guaranteed. Should you require two beds, kindly make sure to advise this when booking your program.

    DIA 2

After checking out of the hotel, you will enjoy a half-day tour of Tokyo starting with a visit to the Shintu shrine Meiji Jingu. Built to venerate Emperor Meiji, who reigned from 1852-1912, it is the largest and most visited shrine in Japan, in part because of its beautiful park-like setting and the fact that Meiji is revered as Japan’s first modern emperor.

Then it’s on to Tokyo Tower, Japan’s second highest structure, which was built in 1958 as a symbol of Japan’s rebirth. After riding an elevator to the nearly 500-foot-high Grand Observation Platform, you will be treated to an astounding view of the city. If the sky is clear, you can see Mt. Fuji.

Following lunch at a local restaurant, you will be transferred to Odawara Hilton Hotel to relax at your leisure. A bountiful buffet dinner will be served at the hotel. However, the remainder of the day is yours to enjoy as you please before you spend the evening at the hotel.

    DIA 3

Today, you will visit Hakone, a part of the Fuji National Park. Upon arriving at Sounzan, you will board the Ropeway, an aerial tram that affords you wonderful views of the Owakudani Valley. In time, you will stop at Lake Ashi for a scenic cruise. The crystal-clear lake was formed about 3.000 years ago in the caldera left after the volcanic eruption of Mount Hakone. If the conditions are ideal, as they often are, you will see Mt. Fuji and its inverted reflection on the water.

Desfrute o almoço em um restaurante local. On the return to the hotel, you will stop at Odawara Castle, which was originally built in the mid-15th Century. The structure was destroyed in the latter half of the 19th century when political power changed from the Edo shogunate to the Meiji government, and the castle was condemned as the symbol of the samurai.

The castle that now stands is a reconstruction from 1960. However, the moat and stone walls are originals. The castle is a three-tiered, five-storied donjon, and its top floor is an observatory.

A traditional Japanese Kaiseki (multi course) dinner will be served at your hotel this evening.

    DIA 4

After checking out of the hotel, you will be transferred to cruise terminal to embark the ship.
